I really like this. from City Boy byleonardmichaels

I discovered I was angry. Until she said that I had no idea I was angry. I flicked the cigarette into the gutter and suddenly I knew why. I didn’t love her. The cigarette sizzled in the gutter. Like truth. I didn’t love her. Black hair, green eyes, I didn’t love her. Slender legs. I didn’t. Last night I had looked at her and said to myself, “I hate communism.” Now I wanted to step on her head. Nothing less than that would do.

i fucking HATE Kansas! if Kansas was personified into a human, and they were next to me right now, I'd punch them in the face.
I hate how i ALWAYS get lost there and how everything is so goddam spread out and how everything is fucking beige past a certain point and i was lost there for SO Damn long today. and i have to go back tomorrow too.

and because i don't want to blame myself, i'll take it out on a state, and i'm sorry for being mean about kansas and i like (most) people in kansas, but sometimes i really hate going there.

and then i came home and had a sandwich.

Man. I just got back from the craziest thing. I haven't even thought of celebrating Mardi Gras since kindergarten when we had a cake. that i thought was gross and didn't eat. but WOW. I don't think i can accurately describe 18th & Wyandotte without pictures, and i took pictures. It was just crazy. I saw so many people there. I think i saw people from like, every single group of people i know. if you get it. Michael? where did you go? he was there and then he went somewhere. whatev. I was like, four feet from Wayne Coyne for a long time. I was going to shake his hand, but he was having like, deep conversations with everyone who talked to him, then i decided that i would just go "bye, wayne!" but then he slipped out the side. and that's cool. i got a lot of pictures. and then it was like, yow! there was so much going on! i can't describe it. kids throwing things out windows, that cool guy who offered us his joint, paper mache stuff, that guy cooking hot dogs with the bright lights and whatever the hell that one group was. who said "hey pretty lady" to pia..yeah i'll post pictures. it was weird though. It would have been cool to stay for the whole thing. cause we left at like, 6:20 (and ate at Wendy's) but it seemed a lot later. whatever.

happy mardi gras.

for a second, I thought, BEING 18 SUCKS because i went to the dentist and they cleaned my teeth with baking soda. BAKING SODA??? who does that? adults? that is zero fun. i liked the bubble gum stuff. but anyway, the pain ended, and I still got to get a sparkly toothbrush, and they even let me dig through the toy box!!! for like, the first time since i started high school!!

AND i got a balloon. i was one happy camper.

and then i got home and was like, "where the hell is the pepto bismol???"

YEAH I SCREWED MYSELF OVER!

hahaha tomorrow ..... hahahahah.

so at some point this morning i looked in the mirror and saw i was missing an earring. "aw that's too bad," i thought, "it must have fallen out sometime last night. and i have no idea where." but it was ok. i'm not a huge fan of pearl earrings. so at some later point in the day i was in my bathroom and i saw the other earring with the back still attached sitting on the counter. At that moment, I realized i never lost an earring, I had just never put it on in the first place and had gone all night wearing one earring.

RULE. speaking of alex a, i saw him today. and i stood ok you know those doors and you push on the bar to open them....you know to get out of the building and start walking up to the senior lot....i swung it open and i stood on the bar part. it was aiiight. for two seconds i was worried about getting crushed. but then i just kinda looked around and took some sticky tak off the top windows. and a cop drove by when i was just looking around so then i turned back to the window and acted like i was doing something cool . SORRY FOR THAT. SORRY I THINK IT'S COOL TO BE TALL ONCE IN A WHILE

ummmm and then i ripped the motherfucker's head off.

i really let myself go today. traaaaagique.

i feel so drowsy and swollen todaythismorning. Taylor was right about how it sucks that we had two 4 day weekends when we didn't need them, but we really need one now.

there is a song called "July July" by the Decembrists that Alex Abnos put on a lovely CD for me. and i really like listening to that song. and i wanted to today. and i put it in my purple boombox thing and it started playing, and i was like, "the hell." because it wasn't playing the drums. which is really weird, cause the guy sings with just the drums in the first part. and then the other stuff slowly came in. it was like acoustic but not. it was like acoustic in a different language.
yeah i need to get a new stereo.

shoot. The Man just called. and The Man is Andrew Dietrich.

i was driving caroline home this morning, and i turned into her neighborhood, you know, off that street by the Nelson, and this truck, like the front part of one of those 18 wheelers pulled out, and it was really big and took up a lot of the road, and i was like, "what is that doing in your neighborhood??" and Caroline was like, "yeah i don't know. it's like when i see possums in my neighborhood."

this has been a really weird week, you guys

so it's my pops' birthday, and i'm fixin dinner, so i went to get supplies (cheap groceries RULE) and yeah. shopping carts are really ridiculous. Like, i felt really ridiculous pushing one around. maybe that was cause i got one of the small ones. but yeah. Even looking around at everyone else, it seems so weird! to push around a big metal container. made me think of Provence and all the open air market stuff. that was cool.

who would have thought School Sponsored Events could be So Much Fun?

I am much more grounded this evening.

So Pia and I started a club last thursday. It works like THIS: we go to QuikTrip, purchase something, then enjoy that something in a parking lot. IE: we got hostess snacks last time. and it was a fun time. you can only have meetings when you don't have school the next day. if anyone is interested in joining, I believe we're doin' it again this friday. soo if you're looking for a party, LOOK NO FURTHER. and callll me.

um this is a list of
THINGS I THINK THAT OTHER PEOPLE WHO DON'T KNOW ME VERY WELL THINK I AM in no particular order:
conceited
a spaz
smart
Christian
good at art
gay
mean
dirty/smelly
straight edge
annoying
a Commie

granted, I am several of those things, and I know it!. like Christian. OMG JK LOL

George Salisbury was a local jazz musician that played with some big (big) jazz names and attended, then taught at the Music Conservatory at UMKC. Now there's a scholarship in his name and this annual jazz concert. George Salisbury died in 1986, but to hear his contemporaries talk about him today was still very moving. So many people there were affected by him. and there was a poem about his death that was really moving too. All this time after his death (and i had to check the program to see when he died, because it really seemed like he hadn't passed that long ago when his friends talked about him) a whole banquet hall can be filled year after year in his honor....

rest in peace richie r.

"…for I was quite remarkable and made incredible games, which were better than movies or than the heart could hope for. I was a dream come true. I was smart and virtuous (no one knew that I occasionally stole from the dime store) and fairly attractive, maybe even very attractive. I was often funny and always interesting. I had read everything and knew everything and got unbelievable grades. Of course I was someone whose love was desired" (118).

wooo---ee!

damn!
my mom came home early, so the driveway wasn't cleared yet, and she got stuck going up our oh-so-inclined driveway. i mean, you'd think it doesn't SNOW in Sweden the way that Volvo was moving. so we had to do a quick clear off and some pushing on my dad's part, and then our friendly UPS guy drove by and stopped to help, consequently getting stuck himself, and then once that was all over with, the friendly guy that does our lawn drove by and stopped to talk, and promptly got stuck 100 ft ahead at the stop sign. SHEESH!

but really, father winter should know better than to mess with MY boots.
and really, really, I hope everyone's safe cause it's damn hard to drive out there.

and then i stuck around and played outside and took pictures of the snow because i like to take pictures of things that are pretty and cliche.
you know what? i have a hard time believing that each and every snowflake is unique. i mean, think of all the snowflakes covering your yard, then times that by all your neighbors, then think of all the neighbor's yards over the course of history, then think of those mountains in Return of the King that had snow on them, and it is just unthinkable! i think it's just another lie children are told when they are younger like how you shouldn't eat Play-Do or play with razorblades or something.

have you ever pressed your face into a pile of snow? i did that...it's really cool feeling because you can feel the snow melting away from your lips and cheeks and then you can see your face imprint in the snow! but around my third pressing, my face wasn't so warm anymore and the snow kind of stuck to my cheeks and i ran inside squealing.

damn! why is Janet getting all the crap? this is making me so angry! Justin's name is hardly mentioned in the whole affair, and I don't know about you, but I did not see Janet rip off her own titty-cup or whatever. I saw Justin Timberlake do it. Regardless of whether or not it was staged (which it was) I really do not see how Janet is culpable. and don't give me that "those Jacksons!" jargon! and i'm not even going to get started on the whole "appropriate" factor. this is why America is so gd lame! damn! fuck your fascist Superbowl!

sooooo
we're not having school, tomorrow, right? cause i haven't done any homework. great. it's annoying how the Simpsons weren't on tonight.

sooo friday i went with taylor to Brdwy. Caf. where i saw nick & allegra & jessica and stuff. and then we went to the Tivoli with dave where I saw margaret!
and we proceded to watch In America, which was so freaking good. sheesus! i don't know what else to say. it was just really good and I don't remember the last time I cried that much at a movie. and saturday ryan gave me some gum and let me take his picture in exchange for a sandwich and chips and such.

soooo um. this weekend i found some real pleasure in practicing mes instruments. i'm playing Rachmaninov's Prelude in C# Minor, which if you haven't heard, I recommend it, because it's one of the most powerful pieces i've ever heard and I'm very luck to be able to play it. I think i can actually play the whole thing now, the trick is actually PLAYING it, you know? i dont' think i can describe this without sounding cheesy ("i must put emotion into it!") but you know what i mean. i gotta make it work. make it more than dots & lines. and memorize it. sheeeit. and you have no idea how big the chords are. i swear to god i burn fucking calories playing that piece.

so i guess that music (canadian?) channel Fuse has a new "indie" program called The Dive and i was watching it (speaking of Canadian television, I just love the shit they play on Noggin. it's my biggest guilty pleasure since John Mayer. you know what will never be my guilty pleasure? Diet root beer. cause that stuff is nasty. speaking of Noggin and Fuse, we got those fancy cable channels and HBO for a year for free or something...but i think the year is up? i don't know why we're still getting it. maybe i'll look into it.....yeah I'll look into when sex in the city finishes thanks) ANYWAY there was a video by this band called Motion City Soundtrack, and i saw it twice actually, and the song was only slightly better than generic, but still nothing that great but truly truly TRULY it was upbeat and if you don't know that that's all i care about with music well you do now and i would just hate it if that was the best they've got and the rest of their songs were veritable crap but i mean the lead singer wears glasses and has sideburns and frankly that's all i care about because I am that shallow (shhhh) but the point is that there was one line in their song that i think was worth something and it went...
i’d rather waste our time together
cause we can get down

and i just like that thanks.

CONGRATULATIONS SAMUEL
