Clap Hands

factories and smoke

George Salisbury was a local jazz musician that played with some big (big) jazz names and attended, then taught at the Music Conservatory at UMKC. Now there's a scholarship in his name and this annual jazz concert. George Salisbury died in 1986, but to hear his contemporaries talk about him today was still very moving. So many people there were affected by him. and there was a poem about his death that was really moving too. All this time after his death (and i had to check the program to see when he died, because it really seemed like he hadn't passed that long ago when his friends talked about him) a whole banquet hall can be filled year after year in his honor....

rest in peace richie r.
god this is so fucking tragic.
