this is insane. I'm watching tv and they have footage from Washing DC where I guess there was a rally for support of War with Iraq. Then some other protests came with their signs in protest of war. THe tv was broadcasting the leader of the former who was saying the the "left side" wasn't letting the right side express their freedom of speech or right to assemble peaceably. which I guess is true. but then they started chanting stuff like "stop the left wing violence!" "radical left hates america!" "hey hey ho ho fasicist liberals have to go!" which is dumb. but then the lady made the point that if someone says "I hate you I think you're stupid, now think what I think" then that's not going to change anyone's mind, it will do the opposite. Ask the Irish, who didn't convert. ok maybe that's a bad analogy. Now there's a guy from Iraq supporting the war. He supports peace, but he wants Saddam to go, because as long as Saddam is in power, there is no peace. hmmmm. This is why I wouldn't want to go to somewhere like Oberlin where all opinion is the same, that is, there is no conservative thought. I sure don't want to go to war, but Saddam needs to be out of power....he could die...but bad things might happen before that happens. sheesh. dammit. The Iraqi guy just said, "if the the Republics believe in freedom, then we are Republics!"
dam-mit.
